Too Many People Do Not Get Email Communication
Why is it that so many people do not understand e-mail communication? Have you taken a look at some of the e-mails that you have got in the past week and wonder what on earth these people are thinking? It seems that sometimes people just answer their e-mails as if it's a checklist at the grocery store and then checking off one by one it they returned each person's e-mail and then they fill all happy with themselves.
The only problem with this motif is that if you look at the quality of the e-mails they sent out they basically say nothing and can hardly be considered worthwhile communication. Sometimes they send back a simple one line message and leave the other person hanging. Of course then the other person e-mails them back another sentence without explaining why they sent an e-mail the first place. It is a bunch of Quick nothingness emails, like playing "voice message" tag.
Why do people do this? Why bother? Is the whole world turning into a bunch of teenage text messaging people? Are these people really in the belief system that they are conducting business by sending e-mails like this out? If people cannot use their e-mail machine better than this they should not use them at all?
They say it is corporate etiquette to return your e-mails and yet although you may show some sense of professionalism in getting back to the other person, your email ought be worthy of being read, don't you think? Sure they know you are still alive when you email them back right away, but in reality they don't even know for sure because it's only an e-mail, it could be an artificially intelligent computer from Carnegie Mellon or MIT that is sending e-mail.
Sending one line e-mails is not professional or anyway to conduct business is truly wasting everyone's time. And thus the e-mail tag game goes on. Tag - your it! Silly humans why do you create technology and waste your time like this?
